Drop day didn't feel like a launch. There was no countdown stream, no press list, no agency-made hype reel — there was a Google Sheet of 312 waitlisted DTU students, a stack of QR posters we'd printed at the photocopy shop near gate 3, and a promise we'd been repeating for weeks: Friday, 9 PM, the gate opens.
At 8:55 PM the wire was empty and the wallet rails were forty minutes out of their last test. At 9:00 we flipped the flag. The first pass minted at 9:01 — a second-year from Sector 17 who'd been refreshing the page since 8. The first listing appeared eleven minutes later: a drafting kit, ₹120 for three days, escrow locked before the lender finished typing the description. By midnight there were 600 passes and the help board's first question — OS PYQs, obviously.
What we didn't expect: the mess tables. Saturday morning, three different students sent us photos of our own QR posters with handwritten additions — 'IT'S REAL, I SOLD MY LAMP' taped under one. Word of mouth did in 48 hours what we'd budgeted weeks of posters for. By the next Friday, 4,218 verified students were in, and NSUT's waitlist had started filling itself out of pure jealousy.
The honest numbers, because that's rule six: 4,218 passes, 309 escrow deals settled, 2 disputes (both refunded within the hour), 1 wallet bug that froze ₹40 for nineteen minutes (sorry, ghost_1142 — your cred bonus is real), and 0 rupees spent on ads. Drop 002 is already fitting. Bring your campus.
